I flew into Kolkata (what used to be known as Calcutta) not really knowing what to expect – of the city itself or the people and place I had arranged to visit. The former had a reputation as the soulful, cultural heart of India, filled with the ramshackle architectural beauty, elegant buildings, and teeming slums; the latter an incredibly busy clinic of a renowned homeopath and his son where many patients with very severe pathologies such as cancer and chronic renal failure are treated with unique protocols. Actually, it might be more accurate to say that I had very few expectations at all. A little over a year ago, an Indian homeopathic colleague had related to me that he had spent some time observing at a clinic that was using unique protocols to treat very serious pathologies such as cancer and that subsequently he himself had found it effective for his own patients. That was all it took to whet my appetite.
Alan Yurko
This past week I received an email from a prisoner at a Florida correctional institution. Accused of "Shaken Baby Syndrome", that is shaking his own infant son, "Baby Alan?", to death, Alan Yurko is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole. But Yurko insists that the true cause of death was a vaccination reaction, the result of 6 vaccines given simultaneously two months after his birth. Since the baby was born prematurely, the age since conception - or ?gestational age? - at the time he was immunized with a cocktail that included DPT, Hib, OPV, and hepatitis was 43 weeks. As two medical doctors who have reviewed the case in some detail reported, "Within 24 hours of the immunizations the baby developed intermittent diarrhea, irritability, and feverishness, a pattern which progressed into the terminal illness."
As related by the mother, about 10 or 11 days following the vaccines the baby developed a high-pitched cry, and its skin became warmer to the touch. Having been forewarned during the previous office visit that these things might ensue following the vaccines, she did not become overly alarmed. However, she also noticed an increasing lethargy and a falling off of the baby's feeding patterns, which had been a combination of breast and formula.
This pattern continued for 3 days until the morning of November 24, when the father was alone at home with the baby and his 4-year old sister. In rapid succession the father observed that the baby began wheezing, then spit up, then stopped breathing. In efforts to restart breathing the father first lightly slapped the baby's face, then began spanking the baby's bottom while holding him by the heels, all without success.?
Alan rushed his son to the hospital where he was initially resuscitated - but his condition was very critical. 75 hours after being admitted to the emergency room, Baby Alan was dead.
When first reading about this tragic story, I was filled with many somewhat contradictory feelings: horror at what had happened to this child and his family, sympathy for the victims, anger at the medical and pharmaceutical establishment for the widespread, compulsory vaccination policies that expose infants and children - those with most fragile and vulnerable immune systems - to profound toxic insults, and also skepticism about the validity of the father?s claim... How could I be sure that, in fact, I wasn?t being taken in by a clever con?
But subsequently, several things have all but convinced me that Alan Yurko?s claim is indeed true. First, a careful reading of the information on a website that has been established to assist Alan in his legal struggles is rather convincing. There are detailed medical reports about the baby?s reaction and death along with relevant information on vaccination side-effects. Hundreds of healthcare professionals along with many layperson have come together to form a support network for Alan and his family. They are providing medical expertise for the defense, financial support for the legal battles as well as the family, publicizing his case and facilitating communications between Alan and the outside world.
Secondly, and more subjectively, several colleagues have followed the case for some time and their initial skepticism has all but disappeared. One has even been in contact with his wife and become a strong supporter.
However poignant the tragedy that has befallen the Yurko family, hopefully it will ultimately serve a purpose by raising the awareness of the general public about the dangers of immunizations.
Below is a partial text of the email that I received:
Vaccines are licensed for use in healthy individuals only. My son Alan was vaccinated despite several contra-indications. He was a premature baby weighing only 5lb 9oz at birth. My wife's pregnancy was complicated with maternal gestational diabetes, and group B streptococcal infection (which in itself poses a high risk of infant death). My son suffered in his short life from pneumonia, respiratory distress syndrome, and hyperbilirubinemia. Despite all of this he was given a cocktail of vaccines at eight weeks of age.
The day after he was vaccinated, my baby developed a fever and started to fuss. Ten days later he elicited a high pitched scream. We were told to expect this and not to worry. A couple of days later he stopped breathing. I rushed my baby to the hospital where he died after several severe iatrogenics took place (iatrogenic diseases are those caused by physicians). Because we could not explain his injuries, and because I was the last adult alone with him, I was charged with aggravated child abuse and first degree murder. We could not afford counsel; our lawyers were public defenders.
If that wasn't enough, our four-year-old daughter was taken by the authorities to 'protect her' from I - the accused who was in a maximum security facility without bond. She was used by the police and authorities to threaten and blackmail my wife to help them fabricate evidence and testify against me. My wife adamantly refused to do this. She was charged as an accessory to murder and our daughter was placed in extended custody. Here, she was sexually battered and molested when her 'protectors' left her unsupervised with two boys who had a history of deviant behavior. My wife's charges were dismissed after great effort and cost and our daughter was returned. They both fight every day to bring our family together and have been fighting since 1997.
More recently, we discovered that one of the vaccines given to my son - DTAP - was from a batch of vaccines that stands as the number one ranking in deaths, the number one ranking in non-recoveries, and the fourth ranking in total events reported. DTAP 7H81507, which was given to my baby was a Hot Lot.
Since my conviction, I have rallied the support of an armada of scientists, doctors, and organizations which support my innocence. Doctors and scientists from 15 countries, including the US, have stood up to support us... We have numerous reports from experts whom after record review, have declared my innocence. Many are up in arms at the iatrogenic implications shown in the records...
In addition, groups and organizations involved in health freedom and awareness are taking a stand to help us show this injustice and maybe prevent it from happening to others. There are many other families, like mine, who are being destroyed.?
In earnest, Alan R Yurko Family and Supporters

UPDATE - 2007, 7 years later:
Alan Yurko and thousands of supporters worldwide are rejoicing. After winning a landmark legal battle in Orlando, Florida last August, Alan was freed after seven years in prison. Yurko was convicted of murdering his newborn son by the so-called Shaken Baby Syndrome. However, hundreds of doctors, scientists, and health-freedom activists were able to overturn Yurko’s conviction as new evidence uncovered proved his baby was killed by bad vaccines (hot-lots), hospital overdoses of heparin, other drugs, and bad medicine. Equally disturbing was the fact that the coroner, Dr. Shashi Gore, cross-contaminated the autopsy with other cadavers, body parts, and data. Orlando Judge Alan Lawson threw out the murder conviction and gave a strong televised oral opinion noting five separate issues, which included prosecutorial misconduct, ineffective assistance of counsel, new evidence, and of course the disturbing medical issues. “I don’t know how you can maintain public trust in a system of justice if you let stand a conviction obtained through the reliance of an autopsy that’s so later thoroughly discredited,” said Lawson to the court and the public. A special plea-bargain was arranged, and Yurko was released hours later into a sea of TV cameras and dozens of supporters who flew to Orlando to witness the event, some from as far away as Australia and Great Britain.

Alpha Lipoic Acid Palladium Complex
One of the basic differences between cancer cells and normal healthy ones is their relationship to oxygen. Cancer cells lack oxygen. They are ‘anaerobic’, meaning that they require an absence of free oxygen to survive. On the other hand, normal cells are ‘aerobic, that is, they need oxygen in order to live and grow. Put another way, normal body cells thrive in a living organism with an internal environment that is oxygen rich while cancer cells don’t. Conversely, an oxygen deprived environment is a breeding ground for malignancy. 75 years ago, when this quality of cancer cells was discovered, it was worthy of a Nobel Prize because it had the potential to shed light on the causes of cancer and provided insights into strategies to both cure and prevent it. The implication is that a goal of cancer treatment should be to create this type of oxygen rich environment where the likelihood of a cancer developing or thriving is greatly diminished.
Always an Adventure
Regular readers of these posts might be aware that over the last number of years I have been making annual trips to India in order to pursue continuing studies of homeopathy. This year was no exception. I usually travel sometime between November and January. These are the Indian winter months, which, compared to the beastly heat of the summer and the continual rains of the monsoon (they only recognize 3 seasons there), are generally considered to be the best time to alight onto the subcontinent. It is definitely the tourist season. And as such, it is the time of year when the opportunities to attend a conference or some other type of homeopathic venue are most abundant.
Aspartame - aka Nutrasweet, Equal
Although our attention may currently be more focused on the possibility of becoming infected with anthrax or smallpox, I was recently given a forceful reminder about the consequences of the widespread dissemination of another toxic substance throughout our public domain.
A woman we’ll call Sherry had come to see me for chronic back and hip pain that was becoming increasingly disabling. A cheerful, active person, Sherry was a successful businesswoman determined to overcome her condition. Our work together began with a homeopathic consultation and prescription, and a month or two later a course of acupuncture was begun.
Sherry’s condition improved to a certain extent, but there still was a considerable amount of pain. More, significantly, by taking her pulses, it was clear that her energy was chaotic and that her system was much weaker than she appeared superficially.
Then, she came to an appointment and announced that her pain, though not absolutely gone, had improved dramatically. Her pulses were also much stronger and more orderly. Just as I was about to give myself a pat on the back for an apparently successful development in her treatment, Sherry mentioned that the reduction in pain coincided with her decision to stop all diet soft drinks.
She had been taking several a day, and thought perhaps that somehow was a factor in her condition. How right she was... Although I have written about it before, it is appropriate to revisit the topic.
Sold under the well known brand names Nutrasweet and Equal, Aspartame is an artificial sweetener created by combing two amino acids. It stimulates the sense of sweetness in our mouth and fools us into feeling that we have ingested the "real thing". Not only is aspartame used as a replacement for table sugar, it is also found in an ever increasing number of foods and drinks, especially “diet products”. Americans are consuming it in ever increasing amounts as they try to avoid the unwanted consequences of sugar consumption while also gratifying the urge for sweetness.
But despite its widespread acceptance and mass consumption, despite the fact that the Federal Drug Administration has deemed aspartame a non-harmful substance and has bestowed upon it an official seal of approval, there still remain questions as to how safe it really is.
Feeding the fires of this controversy is conflicting research and evidence surrounding the side-effects of aspartame consumption. On the one hand is industry sponsored research that claims that it is safe. On the other is a group of private researchers and other individuals who personally experienced, heard testimony about or collected statistical evidence about its negative side-effects.
This latter group maintains that after ingestion aspartame breaks down into substances that often induce adverse reactions. They assert that the results can range from the disruption of digestive processes to neurological and behavioral problems. Interestingly enough, their research has also shown that aspartame consumption will set off a biochemical reaction which results in an increase in sugar and starch cravings. That is, the more you take of it, the more you may want it.
What specifically are the problems associated with aspartame? For starters, it should be noted that as of the mid-1990’s, over 3/4 of all complaints registered with the FDA pertain to aspartame.
The following is a list of the complaints: Headaches/Migraines, Dizziness, Joint Pain, Nausea, Numbness, Muscle spasms, Weight gain, Rashes, Depression, Fatigue, Irritability, Tachycardia, Insomnia, Vision Loss, Hearing Loss, Heart palpitations, Breathing difficulties, Anxiety attacks, Slurred Speech, Loss of taste, Tinnitus, Vertigo, Memory loss.
And the United States military too is very concerned about the effects of aspartame on its personnel. Searching the Internet one evening, I found the following information: "Both the U.S. Air Force’s magazine “Flying Safety” and the U.S. Navy’s magazine, “Navy Physiology” published articles warning about the many dangers of aspartame including the cumlative deliterious effects of methanol and the greater likelihood of birth defects. Thearticles note that the ingestion of aspartame may make pilots more susceptible to seizures and vertigo (US Air Force 1992)." 1"Recently, a hotline was set up for pilots suffering from acute reactions to aspartame ingestion. Nearly 1,000 pilots have reported symptoms including some who have reported suffering grand mal seizures in the cockpit due to aspartame (Stoddard 1995b). The danger to pilots of tunnel vision, blurred vision, seizures, vertigo and other serious adverse reactions, who may ingest large amounts of aspartame productsnduring flight, are so great that articles and letters warning about aspartame have appeared in many caviation-related journals... “
With all this information about the negative side effects of aspartame, one can only wonder why it is not banned from the market. The answer appears to involve political machinations and influence peddling that typically occur when large corporate profits are involved. Aspartame is a product developed by the G.D. Searle company, a subsidiary of Monsanto. Mary Nash Stoddard, a consumer advocate who has written extensively on the "aspartame coverup" maintains that Searle actually tried to hide unfavorable research from the FDA. Of the animal tests where tumors developed, she claims that the tumors were cut out of the animals without being reported to the FDA.2
She also produced evidence that the FDA was itself aware that the Searle research was defective as far back as 1977. FDA documents site "serious deficiencies in Searle's integrity" and "conductwhich compromises the scientific integrity of the (aspartame) studies".3 But effective lobbying efforts tby formerly high placed goverment officials seemed to have prevailed in gaining FDA approval. A most telling incident occurred as far back as1983 when the Commissioner of the FDA gave approval for aspartame to be used in soft drinks a few months before leaving office. "Two to three months later, he accepted a position as Senior Medical Advisor to Searle's public relations firm... He was paid $1000 per day as a consultant."
So, be advised...
